Why Is Open Rate From Opt-in subscribers So Low?

Why Is Open Rate From Opt-in subscribers So Low?

Could anyone give me a logic explanation why an open rate would be 4.1% to the welcome email that has the free gift they opt-in for 30 seconds ago?

Yes, I understand that email open rates fluctuate, but I don't believe I've ever opt-in for something and not read the first email. I would at least read the first email just to see what kind of content I will receive and even read their second before I make a decision if their content offers value to me.

Funny explanations encouraged. LOL

Check your domain and ip reputation, most probably they are low so most of your welcome email going into spam box.

Yes, the website URL I'm using is new, so I made a short video after opt-in that explained that those with Gmail may need to check their promotions tab and other emails may need to look into their spam or junk folder. I said sometimes email providers see a autoresponder as a promotion or spam.

The video will help a little because most people will not check their email right away unfortunately almost all tend to forget later, remember those people received many emails daily, make sure you have a high domain and ip reputation so your welcome email will land on their inbox and you will get better open rates.

Hello, William,

Thank you for writing on the Udimi forum.

Please note that if you are sending emails for a while, and the open rate has declined initially and subsequently plateaued, that trend is healthy. But in case your open rates have been way below the benchmark and are continuously falling, there might be some inherent issues with your campaigns. The main reason might be the emails don't reach the subscriber's inbox, instead, it falls into the spam or other promotional folders.

Please read this tutorial. Hope this helps: https://aritic.com/blog/aritic-pinpoint/low-email-open-rate

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Udimi Live Chat from the Help page.

This is such a great question and the same one I have (and I've been trying to improve it over the last month.

To be clear, I am not blacklisted and I run the same funnel sequence on FB ads (and some other places) and the open rate here is lower. I would expect it to be lower, but not as low as it has been.

I welcome any advice anyone has here.

My gut tells me it's about improving thank you page and/or adding a video.

Obviously, improving your email reputation helps too.

thx. I will look into this. Just to be clear,, my email open rates are not low. The only ssue seems to be from Udimi subs. The rates for these are about 80% lower - same email, same headline. It is even way lower than FB ads.

So, the real q is how to get more Udimi subs to open the first email. Pls let me know if you have any suggestions.

Debbie, please double-check your autoresponder's setup and make sure the emails hit the recipient's inbox. If you want to maximise the reach of your email marketing campaigns, you’ll need to do everything possible in order to avoid being flagged as spam. Make sure the follow-up emails are not going into the junk/spam folders. It might be the reason to reduce the email opening rate.

Here are some best practices to keep your emails from falling into spam folders:

Make sure all recipients have actually opted-in to receiving your emails.

Send your campaign from a good IP address; that is, an IP address that hasn’t been used by someone else who has sent spam in the past.

Send through verified domains.

Keep any code clean.

Use merge tags to personalise the “To:” field of your campaign.

Show subscribers how to whitelist your emails and ask them to add you to their address book.

Avoid the excessive use of “salesy” language (these are spam trigger words like “buy”, “clearance”, “discount”, or “cash”).

Don’t “bait-and-switch” by using deceptive subject lines.

Include your location.

Include an easy way for subscribers to opt-out of your emails.

Hope this helps.

To my years of experience, any email campaign with a single digit open rate seems largely going into the spam folder. Please check the IP and domain reputation, maybe even check if they are blacklisted or not here: https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
