I don't know about others but 90% of my list is T1 and 95% of that T1 list is usa so screw EU and it stupid rules

if you have double opt in you're covered. as they have to give permission.

or

put a tick box for gdpr on your capture page

Yea, as long as you use a reputable AR and use double opt-in you’ll be ok. Your AR keeps all audit records with the double opt-in time and date stamp) in case they ever need it.
